Private document vault

Your documents, readable only by you

Passport, transcripts, offer letters, CAS, bank statements. Everything is encrypted on your phone or laptop before it’s uploaded. The server only ever stores scrambled files it can’t open — so nobody else can read them, not even us.

What it does

  • End-to-end encrypted

Files and their details are encrypted on your device with a key made from your vault passphrase. The passphrase and the key never leave your device.

  • A recovery key, just in case

When you set up the vault you get a one-time recovery key. If you forget your passphrase, it lets you back in and set a new one.

  • Every kind of document

Passport, national ID, transcripts, certificates, English tests, CV, statement of purpose, references, bank statements, sponsor letters, offer letters, CAS, I-20, CoE, visas and emails — with issue and expiry dates and a document number that stays hidden until you tap it.

  • Versions and links

Keep several versions of a document, link it to the applications and steps that need it, and record which version you sent where.

  • Expiry warnings

See at a glance when a passport or English test is about to expire, or a bank statement is too old for a UK visa application.

  • View, download, export

Open images and PDFs inside RightUni, download one document at a time, or export everything into one ZIP. 250 MB of space, files up to 25 MB each; photos are shrunk before they’re encrypted.

How to use it

If you lose both your passphrase and your recovery key, nobody can open your documents — that’s what makes them private. You can reset the vault, which deletes them; your applications stay.

  1. Set up your vault with a passphrase, and save your recovery key somewhere safe.

  2. Add documents — scan them on your phone or upload files.

  3. Link them to applications and steps, and keep new versions as things change.

Questions

More answers on the questions page.

Can RightUni see my passport?

No. Your documents are encrypted before they leave your device, and RightUni never has the key. We can’t read them, and neither could anyone who got hold of our server.

What if I forget my passphrase?

Use your recovery key to get back in and choose a new passphrase. If you’ve lost both, the documents can’t be recovered — you can reset the vault and start again.

Can I send documents to a university from RightUni?

No. Download the document and send it yourself through the university or portal. RightUni never sends documents for you.
